National highways department presently implementing several projects for the expansion and development of roadways. Madurai-Chennai road expansion project is one of the main projects in its present implementation. Over 900 kilometers is being expanded from its two way lane to four ways. Causes of this the length of the road get its expansion of _ mtrs from its present length of __mtrs. Although it is an important project that concerns the development activity, it is now being the head ache of Environment. Over 978 trees were in the both side of the road has been cut down for this process. All this trees included maximum number of tamarind trees. This tamarind trees were the main source of income to the village people as it was given to this people in tender basis annually to get its source and earn money. Over 1300 people who were hopefully earning money have lost their job. And the trees were helpful for long way pedestrians to stay a little for their rest
